HIC’s Oval Au Gratin Dishes are perfect for baking and serving casseroles and au gratin recipes. This glazed white and fine porcelain baking dish is ideal for soups, salads, veggies, desserts, bread, appetizers, teas, and many other uses. In addition to that, this works wonderfully for preparing potatoes au gratin, scalloped potatoes, pot pie, shepherd’s pie, and even baked mac and cheese, as well as other recipes for individual servings.
It is made of fine-glazed white porcelain and has a traditional oval design. This casserole dish made of porcelain works marvelously both as a piece of bakeware and as a piece of serveware. It makes coming up with new ways to cook a breeze, and cleaning up afterward is not difficult at all. The flared handles are well constructed and have a nice texture that gives them a traditional aesthetic that does not come across properly in the photo.
These are the ideal oval au gratin pans because they have handles on both sides, making them easy to handle both going into and coming out of the oven. Because of the glossy top and matte bottom of the dishes, they are ideal for baking, as well as serving, and they ensure that the food looks its best at every stage of the process, from the refrigerator to the microwave to the oven to the serving table.
As these are well-glazed and fired hard, they work fantastic, and we used them for baking in a 425°F oven for 25 minutes and resting for 10 minutes before serving. We have no doubt that they are suitable for use in an oven, broiler, or microwave, and they are surely dishwasher safe.
The most difficult part is getting the stickers off the backs of the dishes. It doesn’t come off very easily. Food cannot be cooked in the dishes until the labels are removed.
They appear to be better than we expected. We like plain white since it goes with whatever color or theme of dinnerware we choose. Displays beautifully on kitchen shelves with other glassware and cookbooks. A must for any kitchen.
